Media Library Folder Plugins

Desktop Media Uploader works with the WordPress Media Library, but it does not use the normal WordPress upload workflow for each file.

This is important for media library folder plugins because many of them watch the normal WordPress upload process to decide when a new file should be added to a folder. Since Desktop Media Uploader bypasses the normal upload path, some folder plugins may not automatically see the new uploads or automatically place them into folders.

The uploaded files are still added to the WordPress Media Library. They are not missing, broken, or stored outside WordPress. They can still be used normally in posts, pages, galleries, sliders, page builders, and themes that use the WordPress Media Library.

What You May See

• The files appear in the WordPress Media Library.
• The files do not automatically appear in the expected media folder.
• The folder plugin may show the files as unassigned, uncategorized, or not yet organized.

Workaround

Most media library folder plugins provide a manual import, scan, sync, rescan, rebuild, or organize option. After uploading files with Desktop Media Uploader, use that feature inside the folder plugin to detect the new Media Library attachments.

Recommended Workflow

1. Upload the files with Desktop Media Uploader.
2. Confirm the files appear in the WordPress Media Library.
3. Open the Media Library folder plugin.
4. Run the plugin’s manual import, scan, sync, rescan, rebuild, or organize tool.
5. Move or assign the newly detected files to the desired folders.

Automatic folder placement depends on how each folder plugin tracks new media. If the folder plugin only assigns folders during the normal WordPress upload process, manual import or manual folder assignment may be required after uploading with Desktop Media Uploader.
